Self Help Skills
What are Self Help Skills in Children?
Self-help skills are skills we need for daily living such as eating, dressing, hygiene (brushing teeth and hair, washing hands), toileting, and completing helpful chores such as tidying toys and packing a school bag.
Why are they important?
As children grow, they typically become more independent. When a child lacks the ability to complete these tasks independently, they rely on adults to assist with tasks such as tying their shoelaces or zippering their coat. We aim to develop a child’s independence with self-help skills by breaking the tasks down into small manageable steps, in a fun and engaging learning environment.
